Description

This is a very fine and vintage Ancestor sculpture from the Baga peoples of Guinea, West Africa. Carved from a single piece of wood with a well handled and weathered surface patina. Such sculptures were known as Nimba or D'mba and this type were thought to act as mediums to the spirit world. It is hard to deny that are fantastic works of African Art and no collection is complete without one. The sculpture itself measures 24 inches tall.
