Pair of carved Chinese zitan boxes with applied semiprecious stones depicting couples courting under leafy trees, surrounded by herds of goats. The rectangular boxes combine carved wood and applied colored semiprecious stones to create the scenes. Incised and carved details in both materials complete the depictions.

Both boxes have slight scratching and marking on the inside edges and corners as well age cracks. Both lids also are a slightly loose fit on the boxes and both lids have a crack in them, one at the top and one at the bottom. See the pictures on our dropbox site.
