Item Details

Description

Lacquered wood miniature chest of drawers, on stand. Intricate traditional golden ornamentation on black lacquer. Trees, Pagoda buildings, foliate and geometric patterns. Four legs on stand. Six drawers total, some with compartments inside. Lock up front, with original key. Edo Period, Japan. Circa late 1700's/early 1800's. Measurements: 17.75" high alotgether. Chest only is 14.5" x 14.5" x 9". Stand is 15.5" x 10" x 3.5" high.

Condition

Minor scuffs and spots of missing lacquer, particularly on extremities. Minor repairs, on leg and on some spots of missing finish. Splits near joints. Original key is retained, lock works, opens and closes fine.
