The painting is in good condition showing few signs of age and wear. Occasional retouching visible under UV light. Otherwise generally of good impression. The image dimensions are 55 x 46 cm, framed 77 x 69 cm.
Jean-Francois Gose (1827-1870)
Jean-Francois Gose was born 1827 in Nancy. From 1848 he attended the Parisian Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he studied under Horace Vernet and Belloc. From 1852-1870 Gose exhibited at the Paris Salon, showing portraits and historical paintings. His works can be viewed, among others, at the Museum of Pontoise.
