Late Roman to Byzantine period, ca. 5th to 9th century CE. Large pottery storage jar of the type used to store water, wine, grains and oils. Bulbous base tapering toward the top with two large strap handles and incised decorations along the base and midsection. A fine and attractive example! Size: 14" W x 20" H (35.6 cm x 50.8 cm)
