Condition
Good, with wear, including fraying, to the ends of the leather spines, which are straight and with slightly faded but clearly legible gilt lettering and decoration. There is a split along the front spine edge of Volume I, but it is attached. The leather outside corners are bumped, but all corners are attached. The marbled boards have shallow edge wear, but all are well-attached and with no notable stains or fade. The most substantial flaws are to the fold-out maps at the beginning of Volume I, parts of which are detached (see photo). Each volume has its frontispiece art. All the lettering and in-page art is clean and unfaded. Each front inside cover has the personal ex-libris plate of the original owners. There are no other attachments. There are a few pencil ownership notations, but none throughout the book bodies, and none of any kind on almost all pages. There are few creases and no deep tears. The binding is tight, with no loose (other than those mentioned above) pages and no missing pages.
