Description
China, Warring States Period, 475 to 221 BCE. This is a ge (dagger-axe) blade. The ge was an early pole weapon, with a dagger-shaped blade mountain by its tang to a perpendicular wooden shaft. This ge was made during a time of great flux in Chinese society, when kingdoms and warlords traded land constantly. However, by this time period, iron and steel had replaced bronze as the material for making true weapons. Bronze weaponry was made for the grave, to signify the wealth and fighting prowess of the dead. Comes with custom stand. Size: 7.25" L x 4.5" H (18.4 cm x 11.4 cm)
