Autograph letter, unsigned but in Archer's hand. 1 page, on 4-page stampless cover, with rubberstamp "Penzance Ship Letter" and another cancellation stamp, send on board the John Fleming. 24.8x20 cm (9¾x7¾").

Letter sent from the Canton bureau of Wetmore & Co., the first referring to shipment of "one box marked 'Wm. J. Wetmore... shipped on board the John Fleming for at London. We are not able to give you the particulars of what the box contains as Mr. Saml. Wetmore Jun. has the letter... respecting it in his possession..." A significant letter with rare Penzance Ship Letter inkstamp.

Condition

Some light foxing and discoloration, very good.
