Begins, "Terrible murder in Canton... we have cholera already... the devil is surely raging murderously... a military parade was held through the town in the morning to overawe the Chinese... the attack on the south is to divert Chinese troops and planes... Shankow has been left alone since 21 Japs were shot down in one day...." ***** Sold with a program from the International Peace Campaign's first congress in 1936. The front cover is signed by several attendees including Chiang Yee (Chinese author, artist), Dymia Hsiung (the first Chinese woman in Britain to author a fictionalized autobiography), Mulk Raj Anand (Indian writer), Sir Robert Cecil (who established the International Peace Campaign in 1936), and 8 others. ****** Sold with 27 early 20th century photographs of scenes in China.
