Description
Pair of figural open salts. Hand painted fine white porcelain. Display cherub figures, holding stein mugs over wells, which serve as the salt or spice urns. At the base of each well is a hand painted bird scene. The ornamentation differs on both pieces. Both marked in underglaze blue with the KPM/Berlin Porcelain Scepter marks, used during the period 1763-1820 period. These date to circa 1770, as also confirmed by the old tags from a previous owner or collector. An incised mark on both as well, hard to make out. German fine porcelain.
