Description
Ancient Rome, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A cast bronze miniature depicting a horse caught mid gallop with his front right hoof raised and his head cocked to the right. Possibly a military talisman or offering, the horse is a finely modeled naturalistic form with a graceful, curved neck, incised mane, and upon close examination, a finely incised harness decorated with geometric designs. Beautiful green patina. Size: 1.375" L x 1.25" H (3.5 cm x 3.2 cm)
