Description
Roman Empire, ca. 1st century CE. Rare and quite exceptional tree in cast bronze. Tree with heavily twisted trunk with 4 ancillary limbs, each having two detailed leaves (one leaf missing ). Based on the rounded top of the tree it is highly likely this was used as a lamp stand. Size: 4-7/8"H (12.19 cm).
Provenance: Ex-private J. Metzger collection acquired in Germany around 2000.
