The dog stands on all fours, its rounded belly nearly dragging the ground. He has a curling tail, circular eyes, and incised rows of teeth. The body is smoothly polished with the torso painted in a creamy orange, while the head is decorated in red. The spout at top enables the vessel to store drinks needed in the afterlife.
