Description
South Seas, Fiji or Samoa, ca. late 19th century to early 20th century CE. In a word, FIERCE! An antique Samoan four-sided, toothed war club, finely hand-carved from a caramel-hued hardwood or possibly the root stem of a local bush, presenting jagged teeth at the interstices of its faces which emerge from a series of steps at the mid-section which in turn emerge from a smooth handle. A wonderful example, replete with attractive carved decoration and a lustrous patina. Drilled at the end of the handle for suspension. Custom stand. Size: 27.5" L (69.8 cm)
