Folding Pocket Combined Chess & Draughts Set, 1880’s, De La Rue & Co with Corbould's Pieces comprised of flat cardboard disks. Earliest British pocket sets are recorded from 1832. Sets designed by Dr Peter Mark Roget ("Roget's Thesaurus") date to 1845 and were the first widely marketed ones by De La Rue in 1846. This combined folding set was the first by De La Rue advertised to continental European players in 1885. The pieces are designed by the artist Edward Henry Corbould (1815-1905)
