Dino Rosin (b. 1948)
The artist, who was born in Venice, left school at the age of 12 and began an apprenticeship at the Barovier & Toso glassworks. In 1963 he joined his brothers Loredano and Mirko, who owned their own company (Artvet). Rosin remained there until 1975 and eventually became assistant in Loredano's new workshop. For about 20 years he was the brother's right hand. In 1988 he was invited to the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington to teach with his brother and the glass artist William Morris. After the sudden accident death of Loredano, Rosin took over the company in 1992. He became particularly famous for his ‘calcedonia’ glass works of art. (nlu)
