Description
.830-silver, circa early 20th century, the Judaica article with eight candle arms of elegantly curving Art Nouveau form, flanking a central column topped by a pierced silver Star of David, the column and stepped base with concave fluting, and flaring profiles similarly in the Nouveau taste, the shamash mounted midway up the column's height; marked on the foot with the German crown and crescent hallmarks used after 1888, the silver purity mark "830," and the maker's mark of Gottlieb Kurz; the base with another metal disc across it underside. 10" H X 10.75" W X 5.25" base diameter. Weight of silver (not including the other metal disc) approximately 12.2 troy ounces. Central stem slightly off-vertical, shamash currently attached by a pin (requires re-soldering), the piece lacking one candle cup.
