With 16 text woodcuts. - Alchemy. - Hayyan worked in the field of metallurgy and chemistry. It is now thought that works of Geber are more a summary of arabic chemistry compiled by a Latin author rather than a Latin translation of an Arabic text. The main work is divided into four parts: De investigatione perfectionis metallorum, Summae perfectionis metallorum, sive perfecti magisterii, De inventione veritatis seu perfectionis metallorum and De fornacibus construendis. - One third of title is missing as well as one third of leaf 2, leaf 3,4 missing and bound in as blank leafs, leaf 5-7 backed and with minor defects, pages partly waterstained and with marginalia. Some leaves with backed defects, partly with minimal loss of text. Very rare.
Nicht bei Duveen. - Abu Musa Dschabir ibn Hayyan (lat. Geber) experimentierte in Metallurgie und Chemie. Im dreizehnten und vierzehnten Jahrhundert tauchten Schriften unter diesem Pseudonym auf, die wahrscheinlich eher eine Kompilation von arabischen Schriften zur Alchemie als eine Übersetzung eines arabischen Textes darstellen. - Ein Drittel der Titelseite und Bl. 2, Bl.3 und 4 fehlen sind als Leerseiten eingebunden, Bl. 5-7 aufgezogen. Einige Blätter mit hinterlegten Fehlstellen, teils mit minimalem Textverlust. - Seiten teils wasserfleckig und mit Marginalien. Sehr selten.
