The tantalus with exterior case of burled mahogany veneer, edges trimmed in brass, lid with engraved armorial crest in relief with MEMOR ESTO J.C.C FROM S.M.L. OCTR. 11th 1871, interior lined in velvet house four cut-glass decanters.

Some age-related cracking to veneer, burl simulated and strengthened with inpainting, wear to exterior near lockplates, fleabiting and flaking to bodies, otherwise presenting well; lot is without key.
