‘Schwanenservice‘ (1737-1742)

Since 1733 Cabinet Minister in the service of August III, Heinrich von Brühl gained the permission to the unlimited and free manufacture of porcelain in 1737. In an about five years’ work, the largest service of the 18th century was produced by order of the count. An etching by Wenceslaus Holland served the modelers Kaendler, Ehder and Eberlein as a model. The relief decoration of the circa 2200-pieces service features mythological themes and motifs of the flora and the fauna. All motifs are related to the element of water.
