Description
New York: Artists Equity Fund, Inc., Masquerade Ball, 1953, first edition, 73 color lithograph leaves artists include Marcel Vertes, Milton Avery, Chaim Gross, Reginald Marsh & others, with plastic comb binding, ink stamped 451 of 2000, the cover with some wear and some toning around perimeter, otherwise in good used condition. Note: the fourth volume in this bound series of original lithograph advertisements, begun by the Artists Equity Fund in 1950 as a source of fundraising to accompany their Spring Fantasia Masquerade Balls held at the Hotel Astor. Well-known artists of the day were chosen by the advertisers and commissioned to produce illustrated ads directly onto lithograph plate, the final results printed in a limited run of 2000 and bound in plastic comb.
