Description
The Fairie Queene was an epic poem by Edmund Spencer, written in the late 1500s and intended to be a study in virtues. These volumes are reprints of Spencer's first three 16th-century volumes (Spencer eventually wrote six), and were published by J. M. Dent & Co., in London in 1897. These J. M. Dent volumes are in very nice condition; the bindings are very intact, and the illustrated title pages and opening pages are very beautiful. These volumes, printed on hand-made paper, were limited to just 100 copies, according to their publisher. The limited number of volumes, and the good condition of this set makes it a rare find. Books measure 8 x 10.5 x 2 inches.
