Ancient ROMAN BRONZE FIGURE OF A YOUTH c. 2nd-3rd Century AD.This solid cast bronze figure stands with his weight on his left foot. A quiver is slung over his left shoulder and he holds a money bag in his right hand. This figure is most likely a depiction of Mercury (Greek Hermes) and a caduceus would have been held in the, now missing, right hand of the deity.In very fine condition. Missing right forearm but otherwise intact with natural gray-green patina throughout. Slight flaking of patina on feet.7.62 cm high (3 inches)Provenance:Acquired from Howard S. Rose Gallery New York, New York, 2015Ex-estate collection of Nourollah Elghanayan , NYC., acquired 1960’s - 70’s.
