During his Parisian period in the 1960s, Sadequain matured his style and combined calligrapher with cubist and surrealist elements. Artists such as Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon and Fernand Léger influenced him in his work. Sadequin, however, was keen on finding his own, non-compliant style of painting.
Condition:
The painting is in good condition, showing traces of color to the margins and on the reverse. The canvas will be supplied without a stretcher frame.

Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi was born in India in 1930. In 1950 he moved to Pakistan. He is considered one of the most famous 20th century painters and calligraphers of Pakistan. In the early 1960s Sadequain moved to Paris, where he soon established a foot in the French art circles. There he could record his first successes and was compared with major artists such as Picasso. During this time, he also worked as an illustrator and was awarded the ‘Laureate Biennale de Paris’. (cko)
