Condition:
The drawing was laid down on canvas to smooth the horizontal centerfold and to close two short tears. The usual pinholes are torn out. The paper is tanned. Overall in good condition, consistent with age.
Gianni Dova (1925-1991)
Dova was educated at the Accademia di Brera, Milano by the artists Aldo Carpi, Achille Funi and Carlo Carrà. In 1948 he attended together with Lucio Fontana and Alberto Burri to the movement ‘Spazialismo’. The following years he worked under different influences as Drip-Painting, cubistic tendencies and was inspired by the surrealism of Max Ernst. This different influences formed at least the distinct style of Gianni Dova.
