Description
English, early to mid 19th century. A tall George III cased mahogany grandfather clock, the bonnet having a broken swan's neck pediment with line inlay, resting on a molded cornice supported by two fluted pilasters, flanking a glazed doors, revealing a hand painted face with Roman Numerals and peacock feather spandrels, beneath an arch centered with gold shells and a decorative border, resting on a rectangular case with chamfered and fluted lamb's tongue corners and a rectangular door with checkered inlay and a central marquetry inlay shell, the whole resting on a rectangular base. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 84", width 18.625", depth 9.425".
