Provenance - Our Maternal Aunt, Dorothy Dunn ( after marrying - Dorothy Earle) was a member of the WAC (Women's Army Corp) during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. At the conclusion of the war, she became a civilian employee of the Army and was stationed near Tokyo Japan for approximately 5 years. She met and married Edward Eale, a civilian engineer employed by the Army, while living in post-War Japan. Dorothy and Ed travelled around Japan and collected war and other memorabilia, the work of local artisans and other small art objects. Among the items they collected was a Japanese Battle Flag with what appear to be multiple signatures on it. The flag was exclusively Dorothy and Ed's possession until his death in the late 1980's. Dorothy gave the flag to her nephew Michael Dunn sometime after Ed's death. Michael kept the flag in storage where it was discovered by family members in January 2016 after his death. - Signed by Margaret A.
