Description
Original antique lime container with bone spatula. Made of bamboo with etched and hand painted ornamentation. Characteristic patterns with red and black colors. Together with original spatula utensil - carved out of bone. Lime containers are used for storing and consuming lime with Betel Nuts - a common mild stimulant, popular for consumption in the region. The lime would be consumed with the spatula utensil (bone) and stored inside the cylindrical container. Lime negates the bitter taste of the Betel Nuts, which in turn give a mild intoxication. Antique tribal artifact, circa 1800's/1900's. Papua New Guinea, Huon Gulf tribes. Measurements: 16.25" with bone, 11" without bone, 2.5" diameter. *** Please keep in mind that we have a professional and cost-effective in-house shipping service.
