Original etching, 17th century lifetime impression, fourth and final state, in black ink, on laid paper bearing a Foolscap with a Seven-Pointed Collar watermark (Ash, Fletcher 20, similar to that found in the impression of the same state currently in the collection ofthe Museum of Fine Arts Boston).
Plate mark: 9 15/16 by 8 inches
Signed and dated in the plate in the title margin below the image, Rembrandt inventor et fecit 1633, signed and dated.
Provenance: Ch. Jacquin (first half of the 20th century) a Parisian collector of prints, with his collection stamp on verso.

A Dallas collector, acquired from the above in 2003

Condition
Condition: Very Good
Condition Details: To the unaided eye this etching appears to be in very good condition. There is a stain, approximately 1/4" diameter on the left, about 1 1/2" from left and 4 1/2" down from the top edge. There is a minute amount of discoloration of the paper. This paper is trimmed to the image leaving no visible plate mark. The work is framed under glass and has not been inspected out of the frame. The work is framed in a custom cornered beaded black and brown frame with a faux burled panel and a silk raised mat. The artwork floats in the window and is hinged to what appears to be a 4 ply rag mount. The frame in very good condition. Verso: Certificate of Authenticity from Galerie d'Orsay, Boston, MA.
