Signed and dated, R L 1630, top right corner. A rare fine 17th century impression of this subject, with the delicate lines modelling the face sharp and clear, minute touches of burr on the check and light vertical wiping scratches top right. A scarce small portrait often noted as a contemplative depiction of Rembrandt's father. The plate is no longer in existence. Provenance: From a private collection. In very good vintage condition, consistent with age. Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) usually simply known as Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman.
