Description
Appears to have been received as a prize by one young student, who almost 40 years later gave it as a prize to her own student. Inscriptions to front free endpaper, one to Hattie H. Thomas, "1st prize for most regular attendance at ----- With this book and kind wishes of her teacher ----- Cook," and another to Elizabeth Curtis dated Apr. 24, 1922, reading: "from Miss H. Thomas. Prize for having most people present at Parent-Teacher Asso." Inscription to flyleaf: "Hattie H. Thomas Datton March 2/84." Inscription to rear free endpaper: "Desire not to live long, but to live well. Not years but actions tell."

Condition
Good. Heavy rubbing to brown cloth hardcover binding, with black stamped designs and pictorial label to front cover. Small nick to spine and all corners turned in. Sticker residue to front paste-down. Inscriptions to front and rear endpapers. Textblock separating from binding in several places, but binding remains sound. Contents are clean and unmarked. Heavily illustrated throughout with frontispiece, 8 full page illustrations, and in-text illustrations. Appears to be complete; text is complete.
