Description
This is the Harper & Brothers hardcover publication, copyright dated 1909, of David Wyss' adventure tale, "The Swiss Family Robinson" (602 pages), with an introduction by W. D. Howells. The cover has surface scuffs and a slightly slanted spine, which has shallow wear to its ends. but the pasted on front cover illustration is good overall, with minor scuffs but no notable color loss or fade. The outside corners have shallow bumps, but no deep creasing. The inside front cover spread has a personal ex libris to the cover side and a gift notation to the front end page, dated 1930. There are no other attachments or notations. I've found only one page tear, approximately two inches, coming up from a bottom edge, with no material missing. There are a number of shallow corner creases, but no deep creases. There are several stains to the page edges, mostly to the outside edge. There is recurrent foxing to the page faces, most of which is light, and other small stains, but no prominent stains and none that obscure any text, all of which is unfaded. The many illustrations, including those few in color, are also unfaded. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages.
