Two Everlast Boxing Gloves Autographed by Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson (2). Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson II, billed as "The Sound and the Fury" and afterwards infamously referred to as "The Bite Fight," was contested on June 28, 1997 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for the WBA Heavyweight Championship. The event will live on in boxing lore as one of the most bizarre fights in history, in which Tyson bit off part of Holyfield's ear, and was disqualified.

Prior to that fight, Neil Leifer came to know, and photograph, both champions. Several of those compelling photographic portraits of Tyson and Holyfield are included in this auction. Both men, as a result of their work with Neil, gifted him an autographed boxing glove. The gloves from those two combatants are offered here. Mike Tyson signed his glove on June 8, 1988, less than two years after becoming Heavyweight Champion, while in training for his June 27th fight with Michael Spinks.

When Evander Holyfield, a deeply religious man, gave this glove to Neil, he inscribed with the words "Phil 4:13," referencing the Bible verse that reads, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
