Description
From the collection of Rita Ford Music Boxes. This extremely rare automata dated from around 1885 and was made in Paris, France by the renowned maker "Gustave Vichy". The Tea Drinker is the third in a set of Asian themed automata the other two being the Japanese Mask Seller and the Chinese Smoker. These are considered extremely rare and desirable with collectors. Has it's original silk clothing with embroidery. Everything is functioning as it should and works. The six automations are: turning the head from side to side, nodding head up and down, opening and closing of the eyes, opening and closing of the mouth, twirling his parasol and drinking his tea. Plays two songs. (Excellent). 30" T x 15" W.
