A GROUP OF FOUR ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE GLAZED EARTHENWARE LIONS, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each with glass eyes and painted in tones of light brown, comprising one in a standing position and clear glass eyes, with front left paw resting on a ball, raised on a shaped rectangular plinth, underglaze black shield above "L & SONS LTD. / HANLEY ENG," repaired, height: 10 3/4", length: 13"; a recumbent lion with brown glass eyes and front paws crossed, on oval stylized rockwork and a conforming plinth with gilt dashes, eyelid and one ear chipped, height: 9 1/2", length: 11"; a free standing roaring lion figure with gilt details throughout and yellow glass eyes, height: 10", length: 13"; a recumbent figure of a lion with smoky glass eyes and front paws crossed, on oval stylized rockwork and a conforming plinth, one ear and plinth repaired, height: 9 1/4", length: 11".
Condition
