A GROUP OF FOUR SINO TIBETAN POLYCHROME PAINTED CARVED WOOD CIRCULAR LIDDED BOXES, POSSIBLY EARLY 20TH CENTURY, comprising one of mustard ground color and sides incised with a continuous band of swaying palm fronds and circular clusters, within red tinted bands and surmounted by a similarly decorated domed lid centering a turned finial, height: 6 5/8"; one with dark green ground sides centering a continuous row of incised circular rings enclosing stylized florets, flanked by conforming palm fronds within red and yellow banding, surmounted by a similarly decorated domed lid centering a turned finial, height: 6"; one of tapering circular jar form and dark stained sides painted with red peony blooms alternating rows of Chinese black ink character script, surmounted by a peony flower decorated domed lid centering a turned finial, height: 5"; a stylized mushroom form jar, with a domed lid centering red banding within yellow and burnt red trim enclosing a vertical stem form finial, fitted on a similarly decorated flaring circular container, opening to a cylindrical interior with traces of bright red powder, height: 4 3/4".

Each has remnants of original crackled paint beneath a dark tinted waxed finish, chips, marks and scratches, surface buildup.
