Description
Pre-Columbian, probably West Coast of Mexico, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. The people of the shaft tomb cultures of West Mexico were highly musical, and this hand-carved stone rasp is great poor of that - with a hole drilled in one end for suspension, probably to carry it on a belt or in some other way to make it easily transportable, this simple instrument has signs of wear from being held and played. Size: 5.8" L x 3.5" W (14.7 cm x 8.9 cm)
