A detailed gilt bronze plate brooch comprising a billeted flange and hemispherical boss with six running scroll motifs executed in three-line bands, hexafoil plate with central knop; stud passing through the boss and pined onto the underside; hinge and catchplate to the reverse. The running scroll design is typical of Irish metalwork of the 6th-9th century and the brooch's overall profile is similar to the Steeple Bumpstead (Essex) decorative boss, of 8th century date.
