1st century AD. A lead trade weight, square in shape with raised decoration in the form of a caduceus in the centre and with the Greek letters Delta and Etta to the sides. 430 grams, 55mm (2"). Property of a European gentleman living in London; acquired in the UK before 1980. The caduceus is the symbol of the god Mercury, patron deity of trade and traders.
