Description
Wood, translucent Cibachrome print, plexiglass, aluminum light box, from a limited edition of 40. History Lessons was created by Dennis Adams (American, b.1948) for the New Museum in 1990. Adams uses representational photographic images in conjunction with architectural elements to explore contemporary, historical, and social consciousness. History Lessons reveals, behind a crate, a backlit transparent photograph of discarded busts of former French military leaders. Like the history lessons on the Algerian war taught in French schools, the meaning of the image depends on its context. From the estate of Vera G. List, renowned art collector and philanthropist. Dimensions: 33" high ? 43.5" wide x 18" deep Condition: Very good.
