Description
Ancient Near East, ca. 1000 BCE. A very small bronze dagger with a cast on handle terminating in a small, crescent-shaped pommel. The blade itself is finely symmetrical and very flat, with no ridge or tang. The handle at one time would have been wrapped with some kind of perishable material, like leather, to form a comfortable grip. Comes displayed in custom stand. Size: 0.75" W x 7.5" H (1.9 cm x 19 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
