Description

Rookwood Mahogany glaze (Standard glaze over Red clay body) vase decorated with bittersweet and having patches of Goldstone effect throughout the glaze, the work of Albert R. Valentien in 1887. Marks include the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date, shape 30 B, an impressed R for Red clay body, an incised D for Dark Standard glaze and Mr. Valentien's incised monogram. There is fine overall crazing and some tiny open glaze bubbles. Height is 11 3/4 inches.
