Item Details

Description

Large hand thrown and hand lettered bisque fired, red clay jardiniere made in 1942 by Arthur Baggs while head of the Ceramics Department at Ohio State University. Baggs initials and the date are incised into the bottom of the piece. Around the collar are hand formed and applied letters spelling out the slogan FROM CLAY WE ARE MADE - AND FIRE. Height is 10 inches and width across the two stubby handles is 12 1/8 inches. Excellent original condition.
