Description
WILLIAM CRENSHAW was one of the earliest settlers of Brownstown Township, Jackson County, Indiana. His home was sometimes used to hold court. Handwritten 1831 marriage certificate, 7 3/4" x 4 3/4". clerk of the court William Crenshaw, one of the first settlers of Brownstown Township, the county seat of Jackson County, Indiana. "I do certify that I lawfully joined Emanuel Mahes and Sarah Parker in the bands of Matrimony on the 1st day of May last given under my hand and seal this 28 day of July 1831. Hiram Kness, J.P. William Crenshaw, C.J.C." Crenshaw has signed on the front and the verso for docketing. Reinforced at horizontal fold with archival tape with some toning and soiling, mostly on the verso. Wonderful early Americana.
