Japanese Woodblock Print by Yanagawa Shigenobu Enjoying Fresh Air of the Ocean
Condition
Slightly trimmed on top or bottom, some soiling on the right side of the print, a couple of vertical creases now flattened, backed on edo era paper. Yanagawa Shigenobu was first the pupil, then son-in-law, and finally adopted son of Katsushika Hokusai. You can totally see the influence of the master in this large Surimono. This print probably printed in very small quantity in the 1810's is probably one a the very few copy left. No references exist about this print.
