Description
Near East, Sasanian Empire, ca. 500 CE. An absolutely beautiful rare example of dark glass from the last Persian empire before the rise of Islam, a crucial period in Iranian history. Applied strips and roundels of glass give the apple-shaped body with its simple, narrow spout, an ornate, decorated body. This type of item would have been used to hold a perfume or other precious liquid that would be subject to evaporation. Size: 2.8" W x 3.55" H (7.1 cm x 9 cm)
