Description
Late 18th, possibly early 19th century, Eastern Orthodox, Greek or Russian, End Icon Triptych topped with stepped capital. The closed doors painted with illegible, faded letters or numerals inscription. Interior with original gilding , opening to the central icon depicting a throned Christ flanked by the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist. Each of the Demilune wings depicting two Saints, St. George and the dragon on the left and St. Michael the Archangel on the right. When closed H 16" x W 10 1/2" x D 3", open W 20 1/2". Significant signs of age and wear. Property of the William Gwinn Mather's Estate. Mathers was the president of Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company.
