Description
Samuel Hennell (English (London), registered 1811). A George III sterling silver cruet stand, circa 1813, with eight cut glass castors - two being sterling mounted with gadrooned band at rim - the stand having squat fluted legs supporting rectangular base with shell corners and gadrooned edges under central acanthine loop handle on fluted support. Set accompanied with two later but well married articles - a shaker and a jar with spoon circa 1825, each by Waterhouse, Hodson & Co. (English (Sheffield), 1824-35) bearing standard mark, maker's mark, date mark, and King George IV duty mark. 11 castors total. Underside of stand and top of stand with maker's mark, standard mark, city mark, date mark for 1813, and King George III duty mark (used 1786-1821). Approximate overall height 8.25", width 9", depth 6.25". Weighable sterling elements approximately 24.5 troy ounces.
