Description: Special issue of this magazine focused on Paris, with numerous Atget photographs from Berenice Abbott's collection.

Le Crapouillot (1915-1996) was a French magazine founded by Jean Galtier-Boissiere as a satirical publication during the first World War. The title is a combination of terms used during the war. "Le petit crapaud" meaning the little toad and "poilus" referring to small-trench mortars/cannons.

Eugene Atget (1857-1927) was a French photographer and pioneer in the field of documentary photography. He is famous for his dedication to documenting the architecture and street life of Paris before their removal due to modernization. Most of his images were not published by him, but by Berenice Abbott, who met him just 2 years before his passing. She was passionate about his work and making sure it received the public acclamation she thought it deserved, and published every negative she could obtain.
