Description
Early Spanish Colonial period ceramic bull vessel. Peru, 16th century. Late Inca Culture. Burnished, painted and fired terra-cotta. A ceremonial drinking vessel in the form of a bull, the body hollow, a rim for pouring in the middle of the back, standing on four legs. Possibly a burial piece.
SIZE: Length - 7.75” (19.5 cm) / Height - 4.25” (11 cm)
PROVENANCE: East coast estate.
NOTES: The small hole in the side may be a “kill hole” made during burial ritual.

Condition
Good overall condition with a small hole to one side, darkened patina, and wear to surfaces. Old loss to one ear and the everted pouring rim.
